We have specific expertise in FMCG, cosmetics, fragrance and personal care but enjoy challenge of adapting our skills to solve issues in new categories.


How we work

Insight at the core
As well as conducting classic consumer approaches such as groups and IDI’s we have extensive experience of running expert and stakeholder interviews, co-creative sessions and ethnography. 

We are always on the lookout for creative tools and techniques which will give fresh and rich perspective and most recently have been working with Discover Ai, an innovative Ai platform which accelerates human expertise and creativity to identify exciting new opportunity areas for brand growth.
Strong online focus
Digital research via communities and forums has been a key part of our toolbox for some time now but more recently online approaches have extended to virtual focus groups and workshops. 

It is clear that these will have a valuable complementary role to play alongside traditional research, even beyond these restricted times, e.g. in reaching niche audiences, geographically spread respondents and offering a more intimate approach ideal for handling sensitive topics.

International reach
We also love working across countries and have extensive experience of running multi country projects collaborating with our network of international colleagues to ensure a consistent approach with deep local understanding.

Who we are

Set up by Kirstie Storrar, Hold That Thought comprises a virtual network of senior research specialists who have collaborated successfully for many years and who bring different and complementary skills to tackle specific projects.

Kirstie Storrar

Kirstie has over 25 years of qualitative research experience. An English Graduate from Southampton University, Kirstie undertook a Post Grad Diploma in Marketing at Bristol Business School before starting her career in Qualitative research at Directions.  Prior to setting up Hold That Thought, Kirstie was an Insight Director at Added Value and also spent 18 months at CMR in Toronto.


Kirstie has always thrived off understanding what makes people tick. Her inquisitive & tenacious nature means she leaves no stone unturned in every brand challenge that comes her way. Her particular expertise is in positioning and innovation projects and she especially enjoys the first phase of exploration when she is able to get up close and personal to people in their own homes and observe behaviour first hand. 


On a personal level Kirstie loves nothing more than long walks with her dog, playing tennis and travelling with family and friends.
